Club History

In 2020, the Cheltenham Junior Football Club celebrates its 30th birthday after launching from a successful merger between St Francis and Assumption in 1990.

We have built the foundation of the Cheltenham Junior Football Club around our community with the aim of providing players with a safe, inclusive and friendly environment in which to develop their skills, build friendships and provide a family club for both players, parents and supporters to enjoy.

The Cheltenham Junior Football Club Committee is run mostly on volunteers being parents and friends of the Panthers, working together with the assistance of a paid administrator.

Home games for all teams are played at Le Page Park, Cnr Herald & Argus Street, Cheltenham. Our two ovals accommodate nearly 500 members. On Saturday mornings you will see our Auskick program. Our girls program now accounts for nearly one third of our junior members.

Our President, Michael Brookes in fact started our girls’ program in 2014 by coaching our first ever girl’s team, even though he is a father of 3 boys. Michael is passionate about football for all children and wanted to make sure Cheltenham Panthers gave opportunities to all. In 2021 updates to our building will make sure our girls have the facilities they need.

Over the past 5 years your committee has worked hard to bring you football ‘under lights’. In 2021 both ovals will also deliver match quality lights which will also provide more training opportunities for our teams.

We are proud of our club history and hope to celebrate our 30th birthday all together in 2021!
